Making Peace With Halloween

October 30, 2009

I wrote a piece for the Rabbit Room about the evolution of the observance of Halloween in the Gray household and how we worked through the tensions of what for some is a controversial holiday.  For many it’s no big deal, for others it’s a matter of great concern. I hope you enjoy it, and that even if you would fall into the category of those who won’t agree with me, that you have a sense that we’ve responsibly thought through our convictions in a way that we hope is God honoring: http://www.rabbitroom.com/?p=4623

Nice work on this post- I like how you connected legalism leanings with fear, and the tendency to be defensive and reactive to the world. I also like what you said about “love” being pro-active, and how this is a much better way to approach our culture. Great use of language that has affected the way i think about things.
    Thanks
