The Christmas Tour and Minnesota News

November 14, 2009

Hello friends,

I hope you’re enjoying autumn – the favorite time of year in the Gray household here in Minnesota.  The trees are nearly done shedding their summer skin of leaves and it’s starting to get colder, and we’re even starting to see the earliest signs of Christmas – decorations are showing up here and there and we’ve even heard the first strains of Christmas music.

So I thought I’d bring you the first strains of Christmas related news from Minnesota – including news about the Christmas tour I get to be a part of. But before I get into that, I also wanted to let you know about a couple fellow Minnesotans whose new records you might be interested in – either to treat yourself or to share as a gift.

Sara Groves
Long time fans know that I’ve been blessed to be associated with Sara Groves over the years. Sara is a fellow Minnesotan whose support and investment in me always came at key moments – I doubt I’d still be in music ministry if it weren’t for her and her husband Troy.  She’s also a songwriter’s songwriter who has consistently released amazing records that have earned her the reputation as one of Christian music’s most important artists.  More than just music, every record she releases is like a little revolution for the soul, putting you in touch with your deepest self – the part that wants to be known and give itself away to those you love and to it’s Maker. Sara’s newest record “Fireflies and Songs” is her most intimate and personal record yet. It releases November 17th, but if you pre-order it from http://www.saragroves.com you’ll get an immediate download of the album, plus some exclusive goodies that are only available when you pre-order. You can also watch a poignant video of one of her new songs here:  http://tinyurl.com/saragrovesvideo

Joel Hanson
My good friend and another fellow Minnesotan Joel Hanson just released his first solo album in years as well.  Some of you may recognize Joel as the frontman for PFR – one of the most acclaimed bands in Christian music.  Joel is insanely gifted and very generous with his gift and I’ve been blessed to write with him some of the best songs I get to sing: Blessed Be, This Far, You Are Mercy, I Am New as well as his song New Way To Live. These last two and more are included on his new solo record, “What If It Is?”.  You can listen to some of the songs here, and you can order the record here:  http://www.joelhansonmusic.com & http://tinyurl.com/joel-on-itunes

The Christmas Tour
And finally I wanted to let you know that I’ll be heading out this December again as part of the Bethlehem Skyline Christmas tour with Lanae Hale and Downhere!  This is the second year for the tour and we’re all excited and grateful to be heading out again together – especially since Downhere just released their great new Christmas record,  “How Many Kings”.  (There’s also a rumor that I might start work on my own Christmas record early next year – shhhhh 😉

Hey! I’m desperately hoping to be able to come see y’all in Waukesha! I came up last year, which was amazing fun. Will Jaime Jam. and Daniel Kirkley be coming again?
